Making Strides in Holistic Sustainability: A Year in Review

Kawneer has been making countless strides in holistic sustainability throughout 2024. From changing our billet structure and integrating a holistic approach with sustainable methods and practices, Kawneer has worked to mindfully balance business strategy with corporate responsibility. 

Through focusing on our three pillars—Planet, People and Product—we are striving to make the world healthier, more sustainable and balanced with our business practices, product design, production, operations and our people. 

Our sustainable solutions and practices have been widely recognized in 2024, including: 

• Kawneer’s low–embodied carbon aluminum product portfolio received a Metropolis 2024 Planet Positive Award under the Architectural Systems and Facades category  

• Our Versoleil Outrigger SunShade System for Curtain Wall received Editors’ Pick from The Architect’s Newspaper’s 2024 Best of Products Awards in the Building Materials and Facades: Metal category 

• The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology featuring Kawneer products was recognized as Best Green Project in 2024 by Glass Magazine 

• Kawneer’s Global Director of Sustainability and ESG Sneh Kumar was featured as one of the industry’s most influential leaders in USGlass Magazine­­®  

Kawneer is focused on strengthening our responsible and ethical business strategy to positively impact our world. 

• We are taking steps to reduce our emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.  

• Kawneer has a gender equity target as we strive to grow the number of salaried women at Kawneer to 35% by 2030. 

• Kawneer is committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 40% by 2030 in alignment with Paris Climate agreement, and 1.5 °C. 

Partnering with EcoVadis, the leader in sustainability ratings based on international standards, we received an assessment of our supply chain sustainability and management practice. Kawneer will continue to focus on working with stakeholders who share our vision, standards and passion for transparency and protecting the planet—ensuring a minimum of 50% of our suppliers meet the EcoVadis supply chain sustainability performance threshold by 2025.
