Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
The Hoċokata Ti – Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Cultural Center was built to encourage and reserve traditional Mdewakanton Dakota heritage, language and history. The design of the building reflects the tribe and is committed to its natural surroundings with an exterior design that appears to grow from the land. Featuring just one right angle on the exterior perimeter wall and skylights in the entry areas, the construction is unique and welcomes abundant natural light.
To help transform the architect’s vision into reality and fulfill design requirements, Kawneer supplied multiple products for the project. From curtain wall and framing systems to sliding mall fronts and entrances, Kawneer’s aluminum systems create authenticity, thermal comfort and lasting protection.
