The Nashville International Airport (BNA) Terminal Garage C and Airport Administration Building were designed to foster connection and rest for travelers and airport staff. The construction included the removal of the existing garage and pedestrian walkway and the addition of a new parking garage, a 64,000-square-foot airport administration building and a plaza featuring outdoor seating, public art and more. Terminal Garage C and the airport administration building feature Kawneer’s 1600 Wall System®1 Curtain Wall, 2500 UT Unitwall® System, Versoleil® SunShades and Standard Entrances, as well as Kawneer’s Clearwall® Curtain Wall System on the interior of the administration building.
Helping the building achieve LEED Gold, Kawneer’s Versoleil® SunShades were utilized to provide the building shading. Depending on the time of day and location of the sun, the Versoleil® SunShades help reduce solar glare and heat gain for all-day occupant comfort, achieving a 41% energy cost savings for the building.
The project received a 2022 AGC Build Tennessee Award of Excellence in the New Commercial category as well as a 2022 Parksmart Silver Certification for sustainable design, construction and operation. The project also received the Excellence in Construction Award from the ABC of Greater Tennessee in 2021 for the Specialty Contractor category.
